Introduction to Investment Strategy

This introduction focuses on the theoretical basis of finance. Students learn the fundamentals of interest rates, present value, etc., portfolio theory and explore ways that basic cash market instruments and derivative products affect investment return. Topics include utility bond theory, capital asset pricing model and the dividend discount model.

Equity and Securities Valuation

This module covers the various models available for equity valuation. Discussions include the dividend discount model, return on equity, sustainable growth rates, and relative valuation.

Global Investment Strategy

This module provides an integrated framework describing the investment process and the markets. This includes an explanation of what affects the foreign exchange markets in the forecasting techniques to predict currency dynamics and also an overview of international diversification, global equity markets, emerging markets and bond markets. This discussion also includes building portfolios including equities, fixed income instruments, alternative and emerging investments, and currency hedges.

Financial Statement and Security Analysis

This module develops financial analysis skills using financial statements of public corporations. It also in includes technical and ratio analysis, adjusting of financial statements to reflect accounting choices and forecasting future operating results.

Derivatives and Risk Management

This module exposes the candidate to portfolio management, security selection, including the use of derivatives as a risk management technique. Risk management allows portfolio managers to structure portfolios to achieve a specified level of risk and expected return.
